Sud Department

Sud (English: South, Haitian Creole: Sid) is one of the ten departments of Haiti. It has an area of 2,794 square kilometres and a population of 745,000 (2002). Its capital is Les Cayes. A significant part of the population in this department is of mixed race, people of Arabs descent and from the Indian subcontinent.

Massif de la Hotte

The Massif de la Hotte is a mountain range in southwestern Haiti, on the far-western end of the Tiburon Peninsula. The region is relatively remote and is one of the most biologically diverse and significant areas of all of Hispaniola.
