National Institute Of Technology, Silchar (NIT Silchar; Hindi: राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, सिलचर) is an Institute of higher education situated in Silchar, Assam, India. NIT Silchar is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology and was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College. In 2002 it was upgraded to the status of National Institute of Technology and was declared as Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.

Silchar Medical College and Hospital

Silchar Medical College and Hospital was established in 1968 in the town of Silchar, India. The Silchar Medical College and Hospital is the only referral hospital in the southern part of Assam and so is the sole custodian of health care system of the entire Barak Valley. Being situated in a strategic geographic location, it also renders its services to the ailing community of the neighbouring states like Mizoram, North Tripura, West Manipur and South Meghalaya.

Barak Valley

Barak Valley (also South Assam) is a southern region of the Indian state of Assam. The main city of the valley is Silchar. The place is named after the Barak river. Barak valley mainly consists of three districts namely Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. Karimganj, the district headquarters of Karimganj district, is the second largest town in valley. It is considered as the cultural center of Barak valley.

Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium

Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium is a multipurpose stadium situated at Silchar, Assam. The stadium was earlier known as the DSA Stadium. After extensive upgrade of facilities, it was renamed after the father of Sri Santosh Mohan Dev. The stadium is used for football and cricket and has a capacity of around 22,000. It also hosted Ranji Trophy as well as Duleep Trophy matches.
