Ambikapur is a city in the Surguja district of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It is the District headquarters of Surguja district, one of the oldest districts of Chhattisgarh. Recently, two more districts namely Surajpur and Balrampur have been carved out of Surguja district, on 15th August 2011 by the State Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh along with eight other new districts.
