Raigad district

Raigad District, is a district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located in the Konkan region. The district was renamed after Raigad, the fort which was the former capital of the Maratha leader Shivaji Maharaj, and is located in the interior regions of the district, in dense forests of the district, on a west-facing spur of the Western Ghats of Sahyadri range. In 2011 the district had a population of 2,635,394 compared to 2,207,929 in 2001.

Alibag

Alibag, also spelled as Alibaug or Alibagh, is a coastal town and a municipal council in Raigad District in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India. It is also the headquarters of the Raigad district. The town and its surrounding villages are the historic hinterland of Bene Israeli Jews. There is a synagogue in the "Israel Ali" area of the town.

Uran

Uran is part of the Navi Mumbai city township lying in the Raigad district near Panvel and Karjat. Oyster Rock

Oyster Rock is an island in the Mumbai harbour, Mumbai, India. It is fortified, and owned by the Indian Navy. For a short while, the islet was used as a naval museum. The Maharashtra government had thought of anchoring the decommissioned INS Vikrant (now a naval museum) on this island.

Afghan Church

The Church of St John the Evangelist, better known as the Afghan Church is a Presbyterian Church in South Mumbai, India, built by the British to commemorate the dead of the disastrous defeat in the First Afghan War of 1838. The church is located in Navy Nagar in the Colaba area of Mumbai (Bombay). It is considered to be an improved version of the Church of St John in the Wilderness which was built in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
