It forms part of the chain of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east. Lombok International Airport
Lombok International Airport (Bandara Internasional Lombok) is a new airport on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. It is the island's only fully operational airport. The completion of the airport project and necessary complementary infrastructure such as a highway connecting to the city of Mataram delayed inauguration of the new airport several times. At the close of 2010 the facility had still not been issued the required operational certifications and tensions persisted with local landowners.
