Gundeshapur
Gundeshapur was the intellectual center of the Sassanid empire and the home of the Academy of Gundishapur. The Academy of Gondishapur, also Jondishapur, was a renowned academy of learning in the city of Gundeshapur, Iran/Persia during late antiquity, the intellectual center of the Sassanid empire. It offered training in medicine, philosophy, theology and science. The faculty were versed in the Zoroastrian and Persian traditions. According to The Cambridge History of Iran, it was the most important medical center of the ancient world during the 6th and 7th centuries.

Battle of Susa

The Assyrian king Ashurbanipal, had grown tired of the Elamites' attacks on the Mesopotamians, and he decided to destroy Susa as punishment.
