Ubaid period

The Ubaid period (ca. 6500 to 3800 BC) is a prehistoric period of Mesopotamia. The tell (mound){{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:30|58|20|N|46|01|50|E| |primary |name= }} of al-`Ubaid west of nearby Ur in southern Iraq's Dhi Qar Governorate has given its name to the prehistoric Pottery Neolithic to Chalcolithic culture, which represents the earliest settlement on the alluvial plain of southern Mesopotamia.

Thi Qar University

Thi Qar University is an Iraqi university located in Nasiriyah, Iraq. It was established in 2000. Originally, the university was a branch of the University of Basrah, and the branch was established in 1992. Its first graduating class was in 1996. In 2000, the branch became independent of Basrah University and Thi Qar University was founded.

Ennigaldi-Nanna's museum

Ennigaldi-Nanna's museum is the first museum known to historians dating to circa 530 BCE. The curator was Princess Ennigaldi, the daughter of Nabonidus, the last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire. It was located in the state of Ur, located in the modern-day Dhi Qar Governorate of Iraq, roughly 150 metres southeast of the famous Ziggurat of Ur.

Ali Air Base

Imam Ali Air Base is a military airbase located near Nasiriyah, Iraq. It is also known as Tallil Air Base. Until December 2011, the base was used by United States Armed Forces. It is generally known as Camp Adder by the U.S. Army; the name "Ali Air Base" is used chiefly by the U.S. Air Force; the installation, however, is still commonly referred to as "Tallil". The base occupies 30 square kilometers and is protected by 22 kilometers of security perimeter.
