Tuz Khormato

Tuz Khormato is a town in Saladin Province, Iraq, located 55 miles south of Kirkuk. Over 70% of the town is majority ethnic Turkmen, with smaller Arab and Kurdish minorities. The name "Tuz Khormato" means "Salt, Mulberry, Date" in Turkish. The city is located in the north-eastern part of the governorate, on the right bank of the Aksu River, a tributary of the Tigris, at an altitude of 218 meters above sea level.

Tuz Khurmatu Air Base

Al-Asad Air Base is a former Iraqi Air Force base in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate of Iraq. It was captured by Coalition forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
