Amirli
For the place in Azerbaijan, see Əmirli. Amirli is a town near Kirkuk in northern Iraq. It has a population of 26000 mainly from Iraq's Turkoman ethnic minority. Amirli is located in Salah ad Din Governorate near the border with Diyala Governorate. The town is the centre of a farming region. The name "Tuz Khormato" means "Salt, Mulberry, Date" in Turkish. The city is located in the north-eastern part of the governorate, on the right bank of the Aksu River, a tributary of the Tigris, at an altitude of 218 meters above sea level.
