Mweelrea

Mweelrea is a mountain in County Mayo, Republic of Ireland. With a height of 814 metres (2,670 feet), it is the highest point in County Mayo, the highest point in the province of Connacht and the 34th highest in Ireland. The mountain overlooks Killary Harbour. Mweelrea is a mountain overlooking the Atlantic coast, and as such weather conditions can change very rapidly and this poses particular challenges for climbers who are inexperienced or have limited navigation abilities.

Killary Harbour

Killary Harbour/An Caoláire Rua is a fjord located in the West of Ireland in the heart of Connemara which forms a natural border between counties Galway and Mayo. It is 16 kilometres long and in the centre over 45 metres deep. It is one of three glacial fjords that exist in Ireland, the others being Lough Swilly and Carlingford Lough. On its northern shore lies the mountain of Mweelrea, Connacht's highest mountain, rising to 814 metres.

Clare Island

Clare Island (Oileán Chliara in Irish) is a mountainous island guarding the entrance to Clew Bay in County Mayo, Ireland. It is famous as the home of the pirate queen, Gráinne O'Malley. Approximately 125 people live there today. Southwest of Clare lie the uninhabited Caher Island and the inhabited Inishturk.
