Moyne Abbey

Moyne Abbey is one of most impressive ecclesiastical ruins in Mayo and a National Monument. It was founded by the Burke family as a Franciscan friary and consecrated in 1462. It is located north of Ballina on the west side of Killala Bay. Like its neighbour, Rosserk Friary, it was burnt by Sir Richard Bingham, Elizabeth I of England's governor of Connacht, in 1590 in reformationist zeal.

Ballina railway station

Ballina railway station serves the town of Ballina in County Mayo, Ireland. The station is the terminus of the Dublin to Ballina service. Passengers can travel to Westport by travelling to Manulla Junction and changing trains It is a single platform station with runaround loop. Beside the station is Ballina Freight yard. The yard is a major freight Hub for Iarnród Éireann. Bulk (Timber) and Intermodal freight train movements go from the yard to Dublin and Waterford ports.
