County Laois is a county in Ireland. It is part of the Midlands Region and is also located in the province of Leinster. It was formerly known as Queen's County. Laois County Council is the local authority for the county. The population of the county is 80,559 according to the 2011 census - 20% higher than it was in the 2006 census which is the highest percentage population growth in the country.

St. Fintans, Colt GAA

St Fintans, Colt as a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling and gaelic football club in County Laois, Ireland. The club is located in the parish of Raheen and amalgamates with Shanahoe to play underage football and hurling. The club has never won the Laois Senior Hurling Championship but won the Laois Intermediate Hurling Championship four times in 1965, 1971, 1979 and 2008. St Fintans, Colt has also won the Laois Junior Hurling Championship twice in 1959 and 1996.

Trumera GAA

Trumera GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling and gaelic football club in County Laois, Ireland. The present Trumera GAA Club was formed at a meeting in Trumera National School in winter 1968. An earlier version of Trumera was set up at a gathering of interested people in the 1920s. The team reached a county Junior semi-final against Mountmellick in 1927. They lost that game and the team faded out soon afterwards.

Clonad GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling club in County Laois, Ireland which fields teams from Under-10 right up to adult level. While Clonad GAA club has successfully fielded underage and adult gaelic football teams in the past, football is not played in the club at present. These days, club members interested in football usually play with the neighbouring football clubs at The Heath and Ballyroan. The club colours are green with a gold sash.

Portlaoise GAA

Portlaoise GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling and Gaelic football club in Portlaoise, County Laois, Ireland. The club grounds off the Abbeyleix road in the town of Portlaoise are called Pairc Ui Fhaolain, after a former stalwart Bill Phelan. The club colours are white with a green hoop. Portlaoise GAA club is Laois's biggest and the most successful club since the inception of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Laois. It is also the most successful club in Leinster.
