Stratford-on-Slaney, also known as Stratford or Stratford-upon-Slaney, is a small village on the River Slaney in West Wick low in Ireland. Stratford was founded in 1775 by Edward Stratford, 2nd Earl of Aldeborough, as a model cotton producing town. Keadeen is a mountain of the Wicklow Mountains located in western County Wicklow located near Donard and Baltinglass, overlooking the Glen of Imaal to the north, Kiltegan to the south and Kilranelagh to the west. Dwyer McAllister's cottage is located at the northern base of Keadeen at Derrynamuck, where Michael Dwyer, the 1798 rebellion United Irishmen leader, escaped from the British soldier's siege on Sam McAllister cottage in December 1799 up the slopes of the mountain.
