Tullynally Castle

Tullynally Castle is a large country house (also known as Pakenham Hall Castle) situated some 2 km from Castlepollard on the Coole village road in County Westmeath, Ireland. The gothic style building has over 120 rooms and has been home to the Pakenham family (now the Earls of Longford) for over 350 years. The house is now surrounded by 12 acres of gardens, including woodland gardens and walled gardens laid out in the early 19th century with a limestone grotto and ornamental lakes.

Lough Sheelin

Lough Sheelin is a limestone freshwater lough in Ireland located in County Westmeath, County Meath and County Cavan near the villages of Finnea (also spelled Finea) and Mountnugent and the town of Granard,. The lake is naturally populated by brown trouts whose native stocks had depleted in recent years, hence the Central Fisheries Board stocking with farm reared the lake for the pleasure of anglers. Trout stocks are estimated to be over 100,000.

Hill of Ben

Situated between Lough Glore and Lough Lene, and Lough Ban, Ireland, the Hill of Ben dominates the valley where Fore abbey was built by De Lacy of the Lord of Meath family for the French Benedictine monks. It rises sharply among the other surrounding hill that interlace with the many loughs of Westmeath. Local legend has it that Saint Patrick's successor, named Benigne, is said to have preached from the hill to bring the gospel to local communities.

Mullaghmeen Hill, (Irish: An Mullach Mín, meaning "smooth summit"), in County Westmeath, Ireland, is situated between the County Cavan border and the Coole end of the Bog of Allen, to the south. It dominates the valley and the 'Westmeath or the Lake County' surrounding countryside. It rises gracefully among surrounding hills that interlace with the many loughs of Westmeath. Mullaghmeen Forest lies about 8 km from the town of Castlepollard.
