Castleshane, County Monaghan

Castleshane is a small village on the outskirts of Monaghan town in the north of County Monaghan in Ireland. Castleshane, or Caisléan an tSiáin in Irish, translates as the castle (or fort) of the fairies and not 'the castle of Shane' as most believe. The village is situated on the N2, the main road from Dublin to Derry and Letterkenny, and is located approximately 6 kilometres from Monaghan town and 17 kilometres from Castleblayney.

Tyholland

Tyholland (Irish: Tigh Thalainn, meaning "Talainn's house") is a small parish in County Monaghan, Ireland. It is the smallest parish in the County Monaghan and borders County Armagh. For a period it was united with Donagh parish and later still with Monaghan parish. Since 1826 it has been once again a parish in its own right.

St Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan

St Macartan's cathedral is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clogher in Ireland. It is located in the townland of Latlurcan, Monaghan town in the ecclesiastical parish of Monaghan and Rackwallace. It was built between the years of 1861 and 1893 and is the only Catholic cathedral in the county. The cathedra of the Bishop of Clogher was removed to Monaghan town in the mid-19th century. The plan for the cathedral was proposed in 1858 by Bishop Charles MacNally.

Harvest Time Blues

Harvest Time Blues (also referred to as the Monaghan Rhythm and Blues Festival) is an annual music festival held in Monaghan town, in Ireland. Since its launch in 1990, it has become one of the "one of Ireland's leading live music festivals". Several noted performers have appeared at the festival, including Van Morrison, Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, and ex-Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor.

Creevekeeran Castle

Creevekeeran Castle is a castle in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It stands on a rocky outcrop but only the west wall, three stories high, remains. The castle is a Scheduled Historic Monument sited in the townland of Creevekeeran, in Armagh City and District Council area, at grid ref: H7847 3710.
