It sits under the tallest peak in County Donegal, Mount Errigal. It also has a crannóg. The shores of the lake is home to a popular tourist centre, Ionad Cois Locha, (Gaeilge for Lakeside Centre), from where boat trips of the lake can be organised.

Leo's Tavern
Leo's Tavern (Irish: Tábhairne Leo, original and official name) is a restaurant and pub in the Donegal Gaeltacht, best known as the home of music artists Clannad, Enya and Moya Brennan. The pub opened in 1968 and held Irish traditional music sessions nightly, becoming the musical starting block for the children of Leo Brennan, the pubs' founder. The current proprietor is Bartley Brennan, one of the youngest of the Brennan siblings.
