Railway to Beersheba

The Railway to Beersheba is the common name for the railroad which currently stretches from central Israel to the Zin Factories in southern Israel, with a spur to the Be'er Sheva Center Railway Station and branch lines to Ramat Hovav, the Arad phosphate mines and factories in Tzefa, and a future connection to the Ashkelon-Beersheba railway.

Tell el-Hesi

Tell el-Hesi is a 25-acre archaeological site in Israel. It was the first major site excavated in Palestine, first by Flinders Petrie in 1890 and later by Frederick Jones Bliss in 1891 and 1892, both sponsored by the Palestine Exploration Fund (PEF). Petrie's excavations were one of the first to systematically use stratigraphy and seriation to produce a chronology of the site. Tell el-Hesi is located southwest of the modern Israeli city of Qiryat Gat.

Operation GYS

Operation GYS, or Operation Gayis, short for Golani, Yiftach, Sergei (Negev)—the three participating brigades—was an Israeli military and logistical operation conducted during the second truce of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Its objective was to create a corridor to the Israeli enclave in the northern Negev desert, surrounded by the Egyptian army.

Uza, Israel

Uza is a religious moshav in southern Israel. Located in Hevel Lakhish around two kilometres south of Kiryat Gat and covering 1,000 dunams, it falls under the jurisdiction of Shafir Regional Council. In 2006, it had a population of 463. The village was established in 1950. Biblical "name taken from passage "Summon the might, O God, show the strength, O God, thou who hast wrought for us" ."

Kiryat Gat Railway Station

Kiryat Gat Railway Station is a station on the Israel Railways lines between Tel Aviv (and points north) and Be'er Sheva, serving Kiryat Gat. It is located in the industrial zone in the east of Kiryat Gat. The station was first opened in July 1960, but was closed from 1979 to 1997. In December 2006 the station served a daily average of 1850 passengers.
