Tze'elim Stream

The Tze'elim Stream is a wadi and canyon situated in the Judean Desert, Israel, near Masada, descending to the Dead Sea. Ein Namer, which means "leopard headspring", is a headspring located in the middle of the canyon, providing water during the year to local flora and fauna. The stream passes through the territory of the city Arad.

Legio X Fretensis

Legio X Fretensis ("Tenth legion of the sea strait") was a Roman legion levied by Augustus Caesar in 41/40 BC to fight during the period of civil war that started the dissolution of the Roman Republic. X Fretensis is then recorded to have existed at least until the 410s. X Fretensis symbols were the bull — the holy animal of the goddess Venus — a ship (probably a reference to the Battles of Naulochus and/or Actium), the god Neptune, and a boar.

Siege of Masada

The siege of Masada was among the final accords of the Great Jewish Revolt, occurring from 73 to 74 AD on a large hilltop in current-day Israel. The long siege by the troops of the Roman Empire led to the mass suicide of the Sicarii rebels and resident Jewish families of the Masada fortress. The siege was chronicled by Flavius Josephus, a Jewish rebel leader captured by the Romans, in whose service he became a historian.

Masada

Masada is an ancient fortification in the Southern District of Israel, on top of an isolated rock plateau (akin to a mesa) on the eastern edge of the Judaean Desert, overlooking the Dead Sea. Herod the Great built palaces for himself on the mountain and fortified Masada between 37 and 31 BCE. According to Josephus, the Siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire towards the end of the First Jewish–Roman War ended in the mass suicide of the 960 Jewish rebels and their families holed up there.
