Casa del conte
Casa del Conte is a village near other villages such as St Maria, St Marco and the mountain village, Perdifumo. This area of Italy lies on the south west coast. Castellabate, minutes away from Casa del Conte, is home to an old castle. This used to belong to abbots in medieval times, hence "castellabate" (meaning castle of the abbot). The castle was also used for protection against the Saracen pirates which sailed down and attacked the nearby fishing villages.

It was an all-weather temporary field built by the XII Engineer Command using a graded earth compacted surface, with a prefabricated hessian (burlap) surfacing known as PHS. PHS was made of an asphalt-impregnated jute which was rolled out over the compacted surface over a square mesh track (SMT) grid of wire joined in 3-inch squares.
