Gulf of Oristano

The Gulf of Oristano is a gulf in the Sardinian Sea, near Oristano, in the western Sardinian coast. It is limited from north by the Cape San Marco, in the Sinis peninsula, and from the south by Cape Frasca. It faces the provinces of Oristano and Medio Campidano. Near the gulf area several wetlands (such as the Stagno di Cabras, the Stagno di Mistras and the Stagno di Santa Giusta).

Santa Giusta Cathedral

Santa Giusta Cathedral is the former cathedral of the abolished Diocese of Santa Giusta, in Santa Giusta, province of Oristano, Sardinia, Italy. It is now a minor basilica. The dedication is to Saint Justa of Cagliari who, according to the tradition, was martyred here at the time of the Roman emperor Diocletian, with her companions Saints Justina and Aenidina. Almost entirely built in sandstone, it is considered one of the most important examples of Sardinian Romanesque architecture.

Tirso (river)

The Tirso is a 152 km Italian river, the most important of the island Sardinia. It rises from the plateau of Buddusò, on the slopes of the Punta Pianedda at an elevation of 985 m and crosses the island from east to west, entering the sea in the Gulf of Oristano.

Oristano (Italian: Provincia di Oristano, Sardinian: Provìntzia de Aristanis) is a province in the autonomous island region of Sardinia in Italy. Its capital is the city of Oristano. It occupies roughly the same area as the medieval Giudicato of Arborea. It has an area of 3,040 km², and a total population of 167,971 (2001). Monte Arci

The Monte Arci is an isolated massif in the Uras plain in Campidano, Sardinia, Italy. It is composed by three volcanic basalt towers, the highest one reaching an elevation of 812 m. The inner part of the massif is composed of trachyte. Monte Arci had a relevant historical role in Sardinia due to the abundant presence of obsidian, which was used since prehistoric times for weapons and tools, and was later traded outside the island. There are also quarries of pearlite.
