Shiura, Aomori

Shiura, Aomori was a village located in Kitatsugaru District in western Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Shiura was located in northwest corner of Tsugaru Peninsula facing the Sea of Japan. The area was part of Hirosaki Domain during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, Shiura Village was created on March 31, 1955 through the merger of Aiuchi, Jusan and Wakimoto villages.

Minmaya, Aomori was a village located in Higashitsugaru District in northern Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Minmaya Village was located on the north coast of Tsugaru Peninsula bordering on Tsugaru Strait. The area was part of Hirosaki Domain during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, Minmaya Village was created on April 1, 1889.

Nakasato, Aomori

Nakasato, Aomori was a town located in Kitatsugaru District in western Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Nakasato Town was located in the center of Tsugaru Peninsula. The area was part of Hirosaki Domain during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, Nakasato Village was created on April 1, 1889. It was elevated to town status on September 1, 1941. On March 1, 1955, it annexed neighboring Uchigata and Takeda villages.

Shariki, Aomori was a village located in Nakatsugaru District in western Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Shariki was located on the west coast of Tsugaru Peninsula facing the Sea of Japan. The area was part of Hirosaki Domain during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, Shariki Village was created in 1889.

Seikan Tunnel

The Seikan Tunnel (青函トンネル Seikan Tonneru or 青函隧道 Seikan Zuidō) is a 53.85-kilometre railway tunnel in Japan, with a 23.3-kilometre long portion under the seabed. The track level is about 140 metres below the seabed and 240 m below sea level. It travels beneath the Tsugaru Strait — connecting Aomori Prefecture on the Japanese island Honshu and the island Hokkaido — as part of the Kaikyo Line of Hokkaido Railway Company.
