Toki, Gifu

Toki, Gifu is a city in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The city is located on the Honshū island, to the southeast of Gifu City, the prefectural capital. The Toki River runs through the downtown area. Toki is known as one of the largest producers of Japanese pottery. The products made in the region are generally referred as the Mino-yaki. Toki has a sister city arrangement with Faenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.

Toki District, Gifu

Toki District, Gifu was a district located in Gifu, Japan. The cities of Toki-all areas, Tajimi-excluding areas south of Tokigawa River, and Mizunami-excluding the former town of Toge are the areas of the former Toki District. On January 23, 2006, the town of Kasahara merged into the city of Tajimi and therefore the district no longer exists.

Large Helical Device

The Large Helical Device is a fusion research device in Toki, Gifu, Japan and is the largest superconducting stellarator in the world, employing a heliotron magnetic field originally developed in Japan. The objective of the project is to conduct fusion plasma confinement research in a steady state in order to elucidate possible solutions to physics and engineering problems in helical plasma reactors.

Eihō-ji

is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple located in northern Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Eihō-ji was established in 1313 by the Nanzen-ji branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism. The temple grounds are home to a number of zazen trainees, and the temple holds regular zazen sessions open to the general public. In addition to two buildings listed as National Treasures, the grounds include a pond, bridge and waterfall, and a traditional Zen garden.
