Doai Station

Doai Station is a railway station on the Joetsu Line of East Japan Railway Company, located in Minakami, Gunma, Japan. The platform for the northbound trains is located 70 meters under ground, in the middle of Shin-Shimizu Tunnel (13,490m). It takes 10 minutes to walk the 486 steps from the ticket gate to the platform. The other platform for the southbound trains is at street level, above ground.

Tanigawadake Ropeway

The Tanigawadake Ropeway is Japanese aerial lift line, operated by Tanigawadake Ropeway Company. The Tōbu Group company also operates another aerial lift line, Harunasan Ropeway. Opened in 1960, the line climbs Mount Tanigawa Tenjindaira Ski Resort, Minakami, Gunma. The line is operated all seasons, transporting skiers, hikers, or tourists.

Mount Tanigawa

Mount Tanigawa is a 1977m mountain on the border of Gunma Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture in Japan. It is one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. To date, since its initial exploration and route-finding in the early 1930s, a total of 781 people have died on Tanigawa-dake. (Compare with the over 200 people who have died on Mt. Everest over a comparable period).

Shimizu Tunnel

is a railroad tunnel in Gunma and Niigata Prefectures of Japan, operated by JR East Jōetsu Line. The name originates from the Shimizu mountain pass nearby. There are three tunnels near each other, which are the Shimizu Tunnel, the Shin-Shimizu Tunnel, and the Dai-Shimizu Tunnel.
