Japanese cruiser Izumo

(sometimes spelled Idzumo) was an armored cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Although very similar to the Asama-class cruisers, her differences are significant enough to classify her as the lead ship in the separate Izumo-class, which also included her sister ship, the Iwate. Izumo was named after Izumo Province, an ancient province of Japan (corresponding to present-day Shimane Prefecture).

Etajima

is an island in Hiroshima Bay located in southwestern Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. From the city of Hiroshima, the island is about 7 km out at sea. The island is about 6 km from the city of Kure. It is connected to Kure by two bridges. Etajima holds two annual marathons, including the "Mikan (Orange) Marathon", and the "Kaki (Oyster) Marathon". The Mikan Marathon has been held for more than two decades. It is held every year in October, at the beginning of the orange season.

Japanese battleship Ise

, was the lead ship of the two-vessel Ise-class battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which saw combat service during the Pacific War. Ise was named after Ise Province, one of the traditional provinces of Japan, now part of Mie Prefecture.

Japan Coast Guard Academy

The Japan Coast Guard Academy is a university-level academy established within the Japan Coast Guard for the purpose of training students to become officers. It is located in Kure, Hiroshima prefecture. Students have the status of public employees. They do not pay tuition; moreover, they receive a salary (in 2003, the amount was 138 000 yen per month).

Japanese battleship Hyūga

Hyūga (日向), named for Hyūga Province in Kyūshū, was an Ise-class battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy laid down by Mitsubishi on 6 May 1915, launched on 27 January 1917 and completed on 30 April 1918. She was initially designed as the fourth ship of the Fusō-class, but was heavily redesigned to fix shortcomings. Hyūga was extensively updated and reconstructed from 1926–1928 and 1934-1936.
