Kazusa, Nagasaki

Kazusa, Nagasaki was a town located in Minamitakaki District, Nagasaki, Japan. On March 31, 2006 Kazusa was merged with the towns of Arie, Fukae, Futsu, Kitaarima, Kuchinotsu, Minamiarima and Nishiarie, all from Minamitakaki District, to form the new city of Minamishimabara. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 7,870 and a density of 322.81 persons per km². The total area was 24.38 km².

Hinoe Castle

Hinoe Castle is a castle located in Minamishimabara, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. The castle was originally built in the 13th century. It belonged to the Arima clan, and was the residence of the Christian daimyo. In 1637, during the Shimabara Rebellion, it was burned down by the forces of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The castle's ruins can still be seen.

Hara Castle

was a Japanese castle in Hizen Province. During the Shimabara Rebellion (1637–1638), rebellious peasants were besieged there. As a result of the Shimabara Rebellion in 1637, the Shogunate decided to expel the Portuguese from Japan. The Dutch, meanwhile, gained the trust of the authorities after they bombarded Hara Castle, where the insurgents had taken refuge, and thus gained a monopoly on European trade with Japan.

Obama, Nagasaki

Obama, Nagasaki was the name of a town located in Minamitakaki District, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. On October 11, 2005 Obama was merged with the towns of Aino, Azuma, Chijiwa, Kunimi, Minamikushiyama and Mizuho, all from Minamitakaki District, to form the new city of Unzen. Located at the foot of Mount Unzen, the area is famous for volcanic hot springs named Obama Onsen and Unzen Onsen. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 10,836 and a density of 213.14 persons per km².
