The Battle of Okinawa was the last major ground battle between the armed forces of the Empire of Japan and the United States of the Pacific War. The Battle of Okinawa lasted 83 days until 22 June, when the island was declared secured. Nakagusuku Castle
is a gusuku in the village of Kitanakagusuku, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is now in ruins. The legendary Ryukyuan commander, Gosamaru, built the fortress in the early 15th century to defend against attacks from the east by Lord Amawari of Katsuren Castle.
