Camp McTureous is part of Marine Corps Base Butler in Kawasaki and Nishihara, Uruma City, Okinawa, Japan. Located in the western part of Agena district of Uruma City, Camp McTureous is equipped with family residential facilities, sports facilities and an elementary school. The camp is named in honor of Robert M. McTureous, Jr. , a Marine private who was awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry and sacrifice of life during the Battle of Okinawa.

Camp Courtney

Camp Courtney is a United States Marine Base located in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is part of the larger Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler and home to the III Marine Expeditionary Force headquarters as well as the 3rd Marine Division Headquarters. It is named after Major Henry A. Southeast Botanical Gardens

The Southeast Botanical Gardens (100 acres) are commercial botanical gardens located in the city of Okinawa, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. They are open daily; an admission fee is charged. The gardens contain over 2,000 plant species, including some 450 species of palms, as well as flowers, fruit trees, a Polynesian Lake with carp, and an insect collection.

United States Army Air Forces in Okinawa

The Battle of Okinawa was the last major ground battle between the armed forces of the Empire of Japan and the United States of the Pacific War. United States Army and United States Marine Corps ground forces landed on the island on 1 April 1945 at 08:30 am. The Battle of Okinawa lasted 83 days until 22 June, when the island was declared secured. The defense of the island was divided into three strong Japanese lines where hidden guns, machine guns and bunkers covered approaches and fields.
