Mount Haguro
Mount Haguro is one of the Three Mountains of Dewa in the ancient province of Dewa, Japan. As the lowest of the three mountains, standing at 414 m, it is the only one that is accessible throughout the year. A path of 2,466 stone steps leads to its summit amidst 600-year-old sugi trees, past the famous Gojū-tō (五重塔) five story pagoda and numerous shrines. Saikan
Saikan (斎館, Saikan) is a sprawling temple lodging atop Mt. Haguro (羽黒山 Haguro-san), part of the Three Mountains of Dewa (出羽三山 Dewa Sanzan). It connects directly to the main temple of the complex through a long passageway that climbs further up the mountain. Elaborate Gohonbo Bassho-zen meals are served to visitors.
