Othaya

Othaya is a Kenyan town about 120 kilometres north of Nairobi, the capital. It has a population of 21,427, of which 4,108 are core urban (1999 census); the majority of the residents are of the Kikuyu tribe. Othaya is part of the Nyeri District. It is an agricultural area with coffee and tea as the main cash crops. Main crop grown in the area are Tea and coffee, while most farmers are subsistence. Othaya is home to Chinga dam, the largest water reservoir in the Nyeri District.

Gatuyaini

Gatuyaini is a village in Othaya division of Nyeri District, Kenya. It is part of Othaya town council and Othaya Constituency. The village is home to Gatuyaini Primary School. People from Gatuyaini include Mwai Kibaki, president from 2002.

Kamacharia

Kamacharia is a small Kikuyu village in Kenya. Coffee growing is the principal economic activity. Administratively, Kamacharia is a location in the Mathioya division of Muranga District. It is now in Mathioya district. Gathunya location has been hived from Kamacharia location.

Mukurwe-ini

Mukurweini was elevated to District status in 2008. The old Mukurweini Divisional boundaries remain as the new District's boundaries. Before Kenya's Independence in 1963, Mukurweini was referred to as South Tetu Division. The new District is one of the seven new Districts created out of the old Nyeri District of Central Province of Kenya. The new District headquarters are located at Kiahungu Township which is also the commercial hub for Mukurweini.

Outspan Hotel

The Outspan Hotel is in Nyeri, Kenya. It was built up from an old farm by Eric Sherbrooke Walker in the 1920s. Famous visitors include Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell and his wife Olave Baden-Powell from 1938 until Baden-Powell's death in 1941. Jim Corbett also lived there. The hotel is linked with the Treetops Hotel, approximately 15 kilometres away in the Aberdare National Park, and with the Shimba Lodge in the Shimba Hills National Reserve.
