Tanjung Tokong

Tanjung Tokong is a suburb of George Town in Penang, Malaysia, bordering Gurney Drive and Tanjung Bungah. Penang's first modern shopping mall, Island Plaza, is located here. The state's first megamall, Gurney Plaza is also located here. Tanjung Tokong was one of the areas afflicted by the 2004 tsunami disaster. The place is currently seeing a major transformation with the land reclamation off the northern shore for a massive land development by E&O Development.

Wat Chayamangkalaram

Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram is a Thai Buddhist temple in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, most notable for its Reclining Buddha statue. The statue is the 3rd largest of its kind, being 33 meters in length. In the main shrine in front of the Reclining Buddha there are smaller shrines of different Buddhas and popular Thai deities. Also on the temple grounds many colored statues of Devas and other mythical creatures are on display.

Battle of Penang

The Battle of Penang occurred on 28 October 1914, during World War I. It was a naval action in the Strait of Malacca, in which the German cruiser SMS Emden sank two Allied warships.

George Town, Penang

George Town (less commonly also spelt Georgetown) is the capital of the state of Penang in Malaysia. Named after Britain's King George III, George Town is located on the north-east corner of Penang Island. The inner city has a population of 720,202 and the metropolitan area which consists of Penang Island, Seberang Prai, Sungai Petani and Kulim has a combined population of 2,251,042, making it the second largest metropolitan area in Malaysia.

Air Itam

Air Itam (Malay for black water) is a town in Penang, Malaysia. The famous Kek Lok Si Temple (極樂寺) and Penang Hill (Bukit Bendera) are situated there. A famous Chinese secondary school, named Chung Ling High School, is located in Jalan Air Itam. The State Mosque, or Masjid Negeri, is also located there. Bandar Baru Air Itam is a town near Air Itam. Air Itam is famous for its 'laksa' which is located at the junction of Kek Lok Si Temple. The primary ethnicity of Air Itam is Chinese.
