Penang Island

Balik Pulau (literally meaning back of the island) is a town in Penang, Malaysia. Durians and other kinds of fruits are planted there. Balik Pulau is famous for its durian plantations which include the 'ang heh' (meaning red prawns) and 'holo' (meaning gourd like) variety. The area was affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Kek Lok Si

The Kek Lok Si Temple is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam in Penang and is one of the best known temples on the island. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. The temple is heavily commercialised with shops at every level and inside the main temple complexes. Mahayana Buddhism and traditional Chinese rituals blend into a harmonious whole, both in the temple architecture and artwork as well as in the daily activities of worshippers.

Teluk Bahang

Teluk Bahang is a fishing village situated on the northwestern part of Penang Island in Malaysia. The Teluk Bahang Dam is situated here. Teluk Bahang is also the entry point for the Penang National Park, which was previously known as the Pantai Aceh Forest Reserve. The expensive Mutiara Beach Resort is located just outside Teluk Bahang village.
