Rafflesia Forest Reserve

The Rafflesia Forest Reserve covers an area of 356 ha of Tambunan district, Sabah, Malaysia. It was established in 1984 by the Sabah Forestry Department to protect the Rafflesia flowers abundant in the area. The Rafflesia Information Centre, located directly along the road from Kota Kinabalu to Tambunan, is the main touristical target within the reserve. Several sites of Rafflesia pricei are reachable from the centre on hiking trails.

Crocker Range

Crocker Range (Banjaran Crocker in Malay), is a mountain range on the island of Borneo. Politically, it is within the boundary of the Malaysian state of Sabah, located in the northern half of Borneo. It is named after W.M. Crocker. The mountain range separates the east coast and west coast of Sabah. At an average height of 1800m, it is the highest mountain range in Sabah. Mount Kinabalu, which is one of the highest mountains in Southeast Asia is part of this range.

Tambunan

Tambunan is a valley district located in the Interior Division of the state of Sabah. The district covers an area of 1,347 km. Its population was estimated to be around 36,297 in 2010, based on the 2010 Population Census conducted by the Department of Statistics, Malaysia. Almost the entire population are Dusun, while the rest are Malay, Chinese and other Sabahan ethnic groups. It is located 80 kilometers east of Kota Kinabalu, 48 kilometers south of Ranau and 48 kilometers north of Keningau.

Menggatal

Menggatal is a Malaysian town and sub-district on the west coast of Sabah, on the outskirts of the capital, Kota Kinabalu. It is under the jurisdiction of Kota Kinabalu City Hall. The name 'Menggatal' is largely believed to refer to the name of a tree that cause skin itchiness, hence the name which means 'causing itch' in Malay.

West Coast Division

West Coast Division is an administrative division of Sabah, east Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. It occupies the northwest portion of Sabah. With an area of 7,588 square kilometres, it occupies 10.3% of Sabah's territory. It also has approximately 30% of Sabah's total population. The division is divided into the districts of Ranau, Kota Belud, Tuaran, Penampang, Putatan, Papar, and the state capital Kota Kinabalu.
