Dzaoudzi Pamandzi International Airport

Dzaoudzi Pamandzi International Airport in an airport located in Dzaoudzi, Mayotte on the southern tip of the island of Petite-Terre (or Pamanzi), located east of Grande-Terre, the main island of Mayotte. It is the only airport in Mayotte with service mainly within Africa and to France. The airport services aircraft up to a Boeing 777, but mostly small and medium size aircraft (A319, B737, LET 410, ATR42, Citation and Beech 200).

Pamanzi

Pamanzi, known as Petite-Terre (literally "Little Land") in French, is an island just off Mayotte, and is the second largest island after Mayotte itself. It was once the most important island, with Mayotte's only airport and the capital Dzaoudzi, until 1977 when Mamoudzou was chosen as the new capital. The communes of Dzaoudzi and Pamandzi are located on Pamanzi.

Geography of Mayotte

Mayotte is an island of volcanic origin in the northernmost Mozambique Channel, about one-half of the way from northern Madagascar to northern Mozambique. Mayotte is part of the Comoro Islands, and like them is the result of a former hot spot, the oldest of the Comoros archipelago, formed about 7.7 mya. Mayotte has an area of 374 square kilometres, and a coastline of length 185.2 km. Its maritime claims are an exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles, and a territorial sea of 12 nm.
