Amarapura

Amarapura is a former capital of Myanmar, and now a township of Mandalay. Amarapura is bounded by the Irrawaddy river in the west, Chanmyathazi township in the north, and the ancient capital site of Ava (Inwa) in the south. It was the capital of Myanmar twice during the Konbaung period (1783–1821 and 1842–1859) a before finally supplanted by Mandalay 11 km north in 1859. It is historically referred to as Taungmyo (Southern City) in relation to Mandalay.

Mandalay University is a public liberal arts university located in Mandalay, Myanmar. Formerly an affiliate of Rangoon University, Mandalay University is the second oldest university in the country, and the largest university in Upper Myanmar. The university offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in common liberal arts, sciences and law disciplines.

University of Medicine, Mandalay

The University of Medicine, Mandalay (formerly Institute of Medicine, Mandalay), located in Mandalay is one of four medical universities in Myanmar. The university offers Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S. ) degrees and graduate studies degrees in medical science. The university is one of the most selective in the country, and accepts approximately 600 students annually based solely on their matriculation (college entrance exam) scores.

Mandalay Palace

The Mandalay Palace, located in Mandalay, Myanmar, is the last royal palace of the last Burmese monarchy. The palace was constructed, between 1857 and 1859 as part of King Mindon's founding of the new royal capital city of Mandalay. The plan of Mandalay Palace largely follows the traditional Burmese palace design, inside a walled fort surrounded by a moat. The palace itself is at the centre of the citadel and faces east. All buildings of the palace are of one storey in height.
