Waiuku River

The Waiuku River is located to the southwest of the city of Auckland in New Zealand. Despite its name, the "river" is in fact an estuarial arm of the Manukau Harbour. It joins the harbour at the south west and extends south for 12 kilometres, having its head close to the town of Waiuku.

Taihiki River

The Taihiki River is a river of the Auckland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows generally northeast from its sources north of Patumahoe to reach the Waiuku River shortly before the latter's outflow into the Manukau Harbour. As with the Waiuku River, much of the Taihiki's length is as a wide silty estuary.

Manukau Harbour

Manukau Harbour is the second largest natural harbour in New Zealand by area. It is located to the southwest of the Auckland isthmus, and opens out into the Tasman Sea.

Huia, New Zealand

Huia is a western suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. Huia was previously known as Te Huia as the area is thought to be named after a Māori chief, Te Huia, who stayed in the bay and was so taken by the area that he remained there. The English translation "The Huia" was used into the 1970s, however simply "Huia" has now become more commonplace. The majority of houses in Huia are located along Huia Road, which arcs around Huia Bay and heads west towards Little Huia.

Manukau Heads

The Manukau Heads is the name given to the two promontories that form the entrance to the Manukau Harbour - one of the two harbours of Auckland in New Zealand. The southern head is simply termed "The South Head", whereas the northern head is named "Burnett Head" (the term North Head is used to indicate a promontory in the nearby Waitemata Harbour). Both heads are hilly areas of land that rise steeply from the water to over 240m within less than 400m of the shoreline.
