Himatangi

Himatangi is a small settlement in the Manawatu-Wanganui region of New Zealand's North Island. It is located at the junction of State Highways 1 and 56, 25 kilometres west of Palmerston North, and seven kilometres east of the coastal settlement of Himatangi Beach. It was once the location of the junction between the New Zealand Railways Department's Foxton Branch railway and the Manawatu County Council's Sanson Tramway.

Manawatu Plains

Some of the most fertile land in the southwestern North Island of New Zealand is located on the floodplains of the Manawatu and Rangitikei Rivers, in an area known as the Manawatu Plains. Stretching from the northern Horowhenua around Levin in the south to Marton in the north, this great triangular area of low-lying land extends inland from the South Taranaki Bight almost as far as Ashhurst at the mouth of the Manawatu Gorge, and covers an area of around 1000 km².

GCSB Tangimoana

The New Zealand Government Communications Security Bureau operates what it describes as a radio communications interception facility at Tangimoana, 30 kilometres west of Palmerston North, in New Zealand.

Tangimoana

Tangimoana is a community in the Manawatu-Wanganui Region of the North Island of New Zealand. It had a population of 290 permanent residents in 2001. It is located 15 kilometres southwest of Bulls, and 30 kilometres west of Palmerston North. The settlement lies on the southern bank of the Rangitikei River near the mouth. It was developed in the 1920s as a holiday place for people from Palmerston North and other inland towns.

Rangitikei River

The Rangitikei River should not be confused with the Rangitaiki River in the Bay of Plenty, another of New Zealand's larger rivers, which flows through the central and northern North Island. The Rangitikei River is one of New Zealand's longest rivers, 185 kilometers long. Its headwaters are to the southeast of Lake Taupo in the Kaimanawa Ranges.
