Ship Cove, New Zealand
Ship Cove is a small bay in the Queen Charlotte Sound - part of the Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand. It is on the west coast of the Sound, just west of Motuara Island and Long Island. The Cove was named by Captain James Cook on 15 January 1770 when his ship the Endeavour anchored there to replenish supplies of food, water and wood.

Long Island, Marlborough
Long Island is located in the Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand. It is just over 1.41 square kilometres in area with a length of 4 km (the long axis being aligned North-east/South-west)and a maximum width of 1 km - hence the name "Long Island". The island was reserved for public utility on the 26th of March 1926 and soon after became a farm which ran between 300 and 400 sheep until January 14th 1926 when the island became a scenic reserve.

Port Gore is a bay and natural harbour at the northern end of the Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand. It is located close to the northern tip of the South Island, at the western end of Cook Strait. It is directly to the west of the entrance to Queen Charlotte Sound. Port Gore is the resting place of the 170 metre Soviet luxury cruise liner, the Mikhail Lermontov, which sank on 16 February 1986 as a result of attempting to navigate the narrow passage between Cape Jackson and the Lighthouse Rock.

Cape Jackson is a peninsula in Marlborough, in the South Island of New Zealand. It lies between Queen Charlotte Sound and Cook Strait. Cape Jackson's history involves gold mining, sheep farming, and more recently carbon farming (growing trees for carbon sequestration purposes). Cape Jackson is privately owned. The land is reserved as a private wilderness park known as Queen Charlotte Wilderness Park (which is available to the public via arrangement with the owners).
