Punakitere River

The Punakitere River is a river of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It is a tributary of the Waima River, though it is longer than the Waima itself. The Punakitere has its origins in several streams which flowe through and to the south of Kaikohe, and flows predominantly westward to reach the Waima close to the small settlement of Moehau.

Waima, Northland

Waima is a community in the south Hokianga area of Northland, New Zealand. State Highway 12 runs through the area. The Waima River flows through the Waima Valley into the Hokianga Harbour. Rawene is to the north west, and Kaikohe is to the north east.

Waima

Waima is an Auckland suburb. It is under the local governance of the Waitakere City Council, and according to the 2006 census had a population of 2367. (From 2316 in 2001) The majority of this modest population is clustered around the comparatively prominent Waima superette, situated just off the main arterial road Woodlands Park Road, on such streets as Waima Crescent, Hollywood Avenue, Boylan Road and Rimutaka Place.
