Paradise, New Zealand

Paradise is a rural locality in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. It lies on the eastern side of the Dart River at the head of Lake Wakatipu, close to the settlement of Glenorchy. Sheep and cattle farming is carried out in the surrounding area. The locality was used as a location during filming of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where it represented Parth Galen and parts of Lothlórien, specifically the area which the Fellowship first enters.

Bridal Veil Falls (Otago-Route Burn)

The Bridal Veil Falls is a waterfall near Queenstown, Otago, in New Zealand. It is one of numerous streams and waterfalls in this region. This fall is only notable because it has been given a common name, is clearly visible from the road and the stream from this fall runs under the third bridge of the Routeburn Track. This fall is over Torlesse Terrane metamorphic rock.

Dart River (Otago)

The Dart River, Te Awa Wakatipu in Māori language, flows through rugged forested country in the southwestern South Island of New Zealand. Partly in Mount Aspiring National Park, it flows south-west and then south for 60 kilometres from its headwaters in the Southern Alps and the Dart Glacier, eventually flowing into the northern end of Lake Wakatipu near Glenorchy. It was named in the 1860s by a runholder, William Gilbert Rees, who chose the name for the river's swift flow.

Rees River

The Rees River is a river in New Zealand, flowing into upper Lake Wakatipu. It is named for explorer and early settler William Gilbert Rees, the founder of the nearby town of Queenstown.

Glenorchy, New Zealand

Glenorchy is a small settlement nestled in spectacular scenery at the northern end of Lake Wakatipu in the South Island of Otago, New Zealand. It is approximately 45 kilometres by road or boat from Queenstown, the nearest large town. There are several pubs, a café and a range of small shops in the town catering mainly to tourists but also to the small resident population. There is also a small airstrip which caters to small planes.
