Gibbston, New Zealand

Gibbston is a community in the Gibbston Valley which is part of the Wakatipu Basin in the Otago Region of the South Island, New Zealand. Through the valley runs the Kawarau River which forms the Kawarau Gorge. The most visible aspect of the area are the vineyards and wineries next to SH6 which form part of the Central Otago wine region. The Gibbston Valley is the coolest and highest of the Central Otago regions with the majority of land gently sloping to the north.

Nevis Highwire Platform

The Nevis Highwire Platform is a bungee jumping platform in the Southern Alps near Queenstown on New Zealand's South Island. It is the third highest bungee jumping platform in the world at a height of 134 metres. It is suspended by high-tension cords, which are fixed at both ends on either side of the Nevis River valley. Its glass floor allows spectators to watch others jump. This makes it a main tourist attraction for those visiting Queenstown.

Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge

The Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge is a bridge which runs over the Kawarau River in the Otago Region in the South Island of New Zealand. The bridge is mainly used for commercial purposes by the AJ Hackett Bungy Company for the purposes of bungy jumping but also forms part of the Queenstown Trail which allows walkers/runners and bikers to pass over the river. The bridge is inside a Department of Conservation reserve.

Nevis River

The Nevis River is located in Otago, New Zealand. It flows north for 40 kilometres through rough country before meeting the Kawarau River, of which it is a tributary. A prominent rock outcrop close to this junction is known as the Nevis Bluff. The river was one of the sites of the Central Otago goldrush of the 1860s. Today, the region around the river is known for tourism and wine production. New Zealand's highest bungy jumping operation, the 134m Nevis Highwire is located above the river.

Arrow River (New Zealand)

The Arrow River is a short river in Otago, New Zealand. It is a tributary of the Kawarau River, which in turn feeds into the Clutha. The town of Arrowtown lies on the Arrow. Gold was discovered by William Fox in the Arrow river during the Central Otago Gold Rush of the 1860s. This scene where Arwen challenged the Nazgûl while rushing Frodo to Rivendell was shot at this location for Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
