Great Moss Swamp

The Great Moss Swamp (also known as the Loganburn Reservoir) is located in Otago, New Zealand. It lies in the Maniototo, close to the former gold mining route of the Old Dunstan Road, 85 kilometres to the northwest of Dunedin city centre. The swamp lies on the upper surface of the Rock and Pillar Range (the Rock and Pillars are a horst range, and thus have a very flat top). Originally an actual swamp, a dam to store water for irrigation and hydroelectricity has turned the 'swamp' into a lake.

Middlemarch, New Zealand

Middlemarch is a small town within the limits of Dunedin city in New Zealand with 300 inhabitants. It lies some 80 km to the west of the city centre, at the foot of the Rock and Pillar Range of hills in the broad Strath-Taieri valley, through which flows the middle reaches of the Taieri River. Middlemarch is mainly a service town for the local farming community. It is the terminus of the Taieri Gorge Railway, and the start of the Otago Central Rail Trail.

Lake Mahinerangi

Lake Mahinerangi is a small lake formed when a dam was built on the Waipori River for hydroelectric generation. The lake is 35 kilometres to the west of Dunedin in New Zealand's South Island. The Waipori hydro-electric scheme includes a network of four dams and power stations and produces a maximum output of 84 MW. The lake was named for Dorothy Kathleen Mahinerangi Burnett, the daughter of William Burnett, mayor of Dunedin 1911-1912.
