Mangatarere stream

The Mangatarere stream is a small gravel-bed stream in central Wairarapa, New Zealand, that originates in the Tararua Ranges. It is located close to the township of Carterton and is the main tributary to the Waiohine River. The Waiohine flows into the Ruamahanga River, southeast of Greytown. Eleven species of native freshwater fish and one native decapod (koura) have been recorded within the Mangatarere Stream catchment.

Dalefield Railway Station

Dalefield railway station was a station on the Wairarapa Line that served the small rural community of Dalefield, just south of Carterton in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand’s North Island. It survived for just over a century from when the line opened in 1880 until it was closed in 1981.

Matarawa Railway Station

Matarawa railway station is a single-platform railway station on the Wairarapa Line that serves the small rural community of Matarawa in the Wairarapa district of New Zealand. It is served by the Wairarapa Connection, and has five services each way on Monday to Thursday, six on Friday and two on Saturday and Sunday.

Carterton Railway Station

Carterton Railway Station, in the Wairarapa district of New Zealand, is a single platform railway station in the town of Carterton. It is located at the corner of Broadway, Davy and Wheatstone Streets, near the main shopping precinct on State Highway 2 (SH 2). It is on the Wairarapa Line, three stops and 17 minutes' journey time to Masterton, eight stops and 1 hour 19 minutes journey time to Wellington, on Wairarapa Connection trains.
