Chongju
Chongju (also Jongju) is a si, or city, in southern North Pyongan province, North Korea. Prior to 1994, it was designated as a kun or county. Chongju also includes approximately 10 islands in the Yellow Sea. Some 40 percent of Chongju is covered by coniferous forestland.

Battle of Chongju (1950)
The Battle of Chongju (29–30 October 1950) took place during the United Nations (UN) offensive towards the Yalu River, which followed the North Korean invasion of South Korea at the start of the Korean War. The battle was fought between Australian forces from 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR) and the 17th Tank Brigade of the Korean People's Army for control of Chongju, North Korea and the surrounding area.

Battle of Yongju
The Battle of Yongju (21–22 October 1950), also known as the Battle of the Apple Orchard, took place as part of the United Nations (UN) offensive towards the Yalu River, against the North Korean forces which had invaded South Korea during the Korean War. The battle was fought between the 27th British Commonwealth Brigade and the North Korean 239th Regiment which was encircled east of Yongju, where it was attacking the US 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team (US 187 RCT).
