The Skotterud derailment occurred on 1 October 2010, at Skotterud, Norway, when an InterCity train from Oslo (Norway) to Stockholm (Sweden) derailed due to a cracked wheel. Forty people were reported injured.

Soot Canal

The Soot Canal, constructed in 1849, has Norway's oldest sluice gates. It was the work of Engebret Soot (1786-1859). It was built to allow timber to be transported (floated) to the Halden sawmills. The canal was 1.5 km long and had 16 locks which extended from Lake Skjervangen at 185 m above sea level up to Lake Mortsjølungen at 201 m above sea level.

Magnor

This article is about a Norwegian village. For the band Magnor, see Magnor (band). For the comic book series, see The Mighty Magnor Magnor is a village in the municipality of Eidskog, Norway, not far from the Swedish border. Its population (2011) is 961. It is known as a production site for glass, made at Magnor Glassverk (lit. Magnor Glass Works) and aluminium, made at Hydro Aluminium.
