The river is part of Skiensvassdraget, and an important part of the Telemark Canal. On the stretch from Ulefoss to Flåvatn there are six sluices (14 sluicegates), with a total rise of around 57 meter. Gjegnen
Gjegnen or Blånibba is the highest mountain in the municipality of Bremanger in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. The 1,670-metre tall mountain has a topographic prominence of 1,460 metres, the fifth highest prominence in Norway. The glacier Gjegnalundsbreen lies directly to the east of the mountain. The mountain is about 10 kilometres southeast of Ålfoten in Bremanger and about 22 kilometres northwest of Sandane in neighboring Gloppen municipality.
