Arabygdi

Arabygdi is a village in Rauland in the municipality Vinje in Telemark county, Norway. It is located at the western end of the lake Totak. Arabygdi is particularly known for the legendary folk musician Myllarguten (Targjei Augundsson), whose home Myllarheimen has been preserved as a museum.

Totak

Totak is a lake in the municipality of Vinje in Telemark county, Norway. The lake is part of the Skein river watershed, discharging via the river Tokke to lake Bandak. At 306 m Totak is the 10th deepest lake in Norway; this tremendous overdeepening marks it as a glacially formed lake with characteristics similar to a fjord. Its volume of 2.36 km³ makes it the 20th largest by volume as well. It is part of the Tokke Hydroelectric Power Station.

Rauland

Rauland is a former municipality in Telemark County, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Vest-Telemark. It was created in 1860 from the districts of Rauland in Vinje and Øyfjell in Lårdal as a border adjustment. The new municipality had a population of 988. On 1 January 1964, Rauland was incorporated into Vinje. Prior to the merger Rauland had a population of 1,656. Rauland is known for hiking, recreation and skiing. Telemark University College has a campus in Rauland.

Battle of Vinjesvingen

The Battle of Vinjesvingen took place in May 1940 in Telemark county, Norway. It became one of the two last strongholds of Norwegian resistance in southern Norway during World War II, alongside the struggle of Hegra Fortress. Vinjesvingen was a battle in the Norwegian Campaign.
