Vanna (Troms)

Vanna or Vannøya is a rocky island in the municipality of Karlsøy in Troms county, Norway. At 232 square kilometres, Vanna is the 17th largest island in Norway by area. The highest peak is the mountain Vanntinden at a height of 1,031 metres above sea level. The population of the island (2001) is 973. Vannvåg and Vannareid are the two main population centres on the island. Sengskroken Church is located on the western coast of the island.

Sengskroken Church

Sengskroken Church is a parish church in the municipality of Karlsøy in Troms county, Norway. It is located on the western coast of the island of Vanna (also known as Vannøya). The church is part of the Karlsøy parish in the Tromsø arch-deanery in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white wooden chapel was built in 1962 and it seats about 225 people. The chapel was consecrated on 2 September 1962 by the Bishop Monrad Norderval. In 2009, the chapel was upgraded to "church" status.

Helgøya (Troms)

Helgøya is an island and former fishing village in the municipality in Karlsøy in Troms county, Norway. It is surrounded by a number of islands: Vannøya to the northeast; Karlsøya and Reinøya to the southeast; Ringvassøya to the south; and Nordkvaløya to the west. Historically, the island was an active hub for the parish and municipality of Helgøy. It was a large fishing village and the home of the historic Helgøy Church.

Helgøy Church

Helgøy Church is a historic parish church in the municipality of Karlsøy in Troms county, Norway. It is located on the island of Helgøya. The church is part of the Karlsøy parish in the Tromsø arch-deanery in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The 350-seat church is no longer in regular use since the island of Helgøya is no longer populated. The church is used on occasion for special services, including one summer service each year.
