Jericho Governorate

The Jericho Governorate is one of 16 Governorates of the Palestinian National Authority (administrative districts) within the Palestinian territories. It is located along the eastern areas of the West Bank, along the northern Dead Sea and southern Jordan River valley bordering Jordan. The Governorate spans west to the mountains east of Ramallah and the eastern slopes of Jerusalem, including the northern reaches of the Judean desert.

Hisham's Palace

Hisham's Palace is an important early Islamic archaeological site five km north of the town of Jericho in the West Bank. It consists of three main parts: a palace, an ornate bath complex, and an agricultural estate. Also associated with the site is a large park or agricultural enclosure (hayr) which extends east of the palace. An elaborate irrigation system provided the complex with water from nearby springs.

Mount of Temptation

The Mount of Temptation is said to be the hill in the Judean Desert where Jesus was tempted by the devil. The exact location is unknown, and impossible to determine. It is generally identified with Mount Quarantania, a mountain approximately 366 m (1 200 feet) high, located about 11 km north-west of the West Bank town of Jericho. According to the public domain Catholic Encyclopedia, Quarantania is "a limestone peak on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho".

West Bank

The West Bank is a landlocked territory, located in Western Asia. The West Bank shares boundaries to the west, north, and south with the state of Israel, and to the east, across the Jordan River, with the Kingdom of Jordan. Allenby Bridge

The Allenby Bridge, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, is a bridge that crosses the Jordan River, and connects the West Bank with Jordan. Other than through the West Bank, the bridge is currently the sole designated exit/entry point for Palestinians residing in the West Bank traveling in and out of the West Bank.
