Matityahu, Mateh Binyamin

Matityahu is a moshav and Israeli settlement in the West Bank, located approximately midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, near the city of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut. Matityahu was initially founded in 1981 by a group of English-speaking immigrants from the United States and elsewhere, and it is now home to a community of observant Jewish families. Matityahu vineyards sell grapes to Israeli winemakers.

Nili, Mateh Binyamin

Nili is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank located east of Modi'in, a few hundred meters from the Palestinian village of Deir Qaddis, 3.8 kilometers east of the Green line. The mainly secular Jewish community with a population of 846 (2009) was established in 1981. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Qibya massacre

The Qibya massacre, also known as the Qibya incident, occurred in October 1953 when Israeli troops under Ariel Sharon attacked the village of Qibya in the West Bank. Sixty-nine Palestinian Arabs, two thirds of them women and children, were killed. Forty-five houses, a school, and a mosque were destroyed. The attack followed cross-border raids from the Jordanian occupied West Bank in which Israeli civilians were killed. The act was condemned by the U.S.

Neot Kedumim

Neot Kedumim, the Biblical Landscape Reserve in Israel (lit. Places of Beauty of Ancient Times) is a Biblical garden and nature preserve located near Modi'in, mid-way between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Israel which attempts to re-create the physical setting of the Bible. The park covers an area of about 2,500 dunams . The idea of planting such a garden dates back to 1925. In 1964, land was allocated for the project with the help of Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion.
