Escobar District

Escobar is a district in Paraguay, located 14k east of Paraguari on the Paraguari-Villarrica road. The mayor, Eduardo Burgos, is from the Colorado Political Party. The small town of 5000+ has a health post, a police station and a post office. Seven small rural towns are part of Escobar and those include, Arroyo Pora, Chircal, Guazu-Cua, Mbocayaty and General Aquino. It has a small swim hole, Ita Cajon. Escobar is also known for its turn of the century Railway station.

Valenzuela, Paraguay

Valenzuela is a town and district of the Cordillera Department, Paraguay, located some 107 km from Asunción. It was founded in 1783 in an area previously known as Yvyraity. The full name of the settlement was Capilla de Valenzuela de los Naranjos because it was formed around a Chapel of San Jose, built by father Antonio Fernandez de Valenzuela. As of 2002, the district's population amounted to 5,581. Economy is based on agriculture, especially cultivation of ananas.

Battle of Paraguarí

The battle of Paraguarí took place on January 19, 1811, in Paraguarí, between the patriot army led by Manuel Belgrano and the Royalist army located in Paraguay. The battle would end with a Paraguayan victory; but it boosted confidence in the local population to declare themselves independent from both Buenos Aires patriots and royalists months later.

Piribebuy

Piribebuy is a district in the Cordillera Department of Paraguay. It is of spontaneous origin, though some attribute its founding to Martin Ledesma de Valderrama in 1636. Since its founding documents were burned during the Paraguayan War, 8 March 1636, was later appointed as its Day of Establishment.
